Yesterday, I began to build the frontwing. It has already reached it’s full width of 180mm and lenght of 55mm – according to the FIA technical regulations – by the way, that’s my nearly most used source. At first an overall view. As you can see, the whole part is covered with carbon-fibre textures.
At the middle section, you can see two metal wires coming out of the wing. That's a new "invention" of me to reinforce the critical connection between nocecone and wing.
The unpainted underside. One air vane each side, a little bit more near to the middle section, is missing
The side plates are a little work of art. In real, and also in point of view of my papercraft work.
The top flap flows out of the sideplates. The side plate is a little bit thinner above the flaps, but more than 1mm (concerning the reglulations). To built that without a visible cutting edge was very tricky.
That view is bluffing. The uper flaps are only 23mm width, the side plate is even only 19mm high - surely also according to the regulations.
I'm not very satisfied with that beginning of the third flap. Maybe I'll rebuild it.
A few impressions of the car with fitted nosecone and front wing.
The distance between the front wing and the reference plate (the floor) have to be 75mm!
Nice thing. 🙂
